Encouraged by a friend working at another Keyton village, Leo applied for the concierge role. “She told me it was a great company and that she truly loved her job. Within a month of starting at Trebartha, I knew exactly what she meant,” Leo recalls.

For Leo, the transition from traditional healthcare settings to a luxury over 55 community was transformative. “The biggest difference is the privilege of supporting residents’ overall wellbeing and quality of life. While occasional challenges do come up, my clinical background gives me the confidence to navigate them with care. They’re incredibly empathetic and respectful towards one another and toward the staff. That inspires me every single day,” shares Leo.

Leo takes great pride in the village’s vibrant social calendar. "The events here are unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere. Where else do you see a cotton candy machine making Piña Colada fairy floss for residents? From themed barbecues to festive occasions like Chinese New Year and Cinco de Mayo, every event is thoughtfully designed to create more than entertainment, I think they build memories." Personalisation is at the heart of everything the team does. "Each resident is unique. They come with different beliefs, preferences and expectations and we work hard to honour that. One unforgettable moment for me was a resident’s 100th birthday. It may have seemed simple, just people gathered around a cake but the sense of community was so powerful. Everyone came together to honour a life well lived. That’s what this place is all about."

Leo understands that moving into a new home can be overwhelming. That’s why he focuses on making each transition smooth and uplifting. “Kindness, patience and clear communication can make all the difference. I do everything I can to ensure residents feel at home from the very beginning.” When asked what makes the biggest difference in daily life at  Ardency Trebartha, Leo doesn’t hesitate, “The kindness and energy of the residents and staff. Even on tough days, the warmth in this place makes everything better.”

With the same warmth Leo feels motivated to work every morning. “I genuinely feel like I have one of the best jobs I could ever imagine. It doesn’t even feel like work in fact I feel like I’m on an endless vacation. When you love what you do and you use it to positively impact others, that’s the secret to a fulfilling professional life,” he says joyfully.
