Ron's journey to Ardency Aroona

"Every day is a holiday and every day there is an activity to do."

Ron has called Ardency Aroona home for a while. He and his wife moved into the community in 2019, seeking a more manageable living space after finding their large home in Engadine too big for their needs. Sadly, Ron's wife passed away six months after their move. Despite this loss, Ron has found comfort and companionship at Ardency Aroona.

Ron and his family spent a year searching for the perfect place and the moment they stepped into Ardency Aroona, they knew it was the right choice. "As soon as we walked in here, we just all looked at one another and said 'this is it'. At any time of the day, you can walk out of your apartment, come and sit out in the garden area and within minutes there's somebody chatting to you. Every day is a holiday and every day there is an activity to do."

The helpful staff at Ardency Aroona have also made a significant impact on Ron's experience. "The staff are approachable at any time. If there are any problems, I just know that there's someone there to help. Where do you get service like that?"

When asked if he would recommend making the move to Ardency Aroona, Ron has a clear answer. "I would recommend it to anyone. I wasted 12 months looking around at apartments and villas. It's another life and it's definitely the way to go."

Keith says he now has a new lease on life

"If I won a million in the lottery, I'd still choose to live at Ardency Aroona."

Keith retired in 2010 following a long career in Industrial Sales and Marketing. After losing his wife to Dementia in 2023 and being her main carer in her later years, there was no way he wanted to live on his own and maintain the family home. With three kids and eight grandkids living locally, he wanted to downsize and move into a local retirement community.

After considering a number of options, Keith found Ardency Aroona was perfect for the lifestyle he envisioned. After seeing his apartment during a sales tour, he didn't hesitate and immediately put down a deposit on his two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. He moved in shortly after - and hasn't looked back.

"I love it, I am doing something every day," says Keith. "I’m a really social person and living at Ardency Aroona allows me to truly embrace and express that part of myself. I regularly exercise and swim in the leisure centre, have taken up Tai Chi and enjoy the many activities available at Ardency Aroona. I enjoy regular meals in the onsite restaurant where we have a Trivia dinner every month. I even joined the Ardency Aroona choir!

"Being free of the burden and cost of maintaining the family home has enabled me to enjoy life to the full and I can travel easily not having to care about home security and maintenance.

"My kids come to visit often - and my grandkids love splashing in the pool. When my friends or family want to visit, they have to book in advance because I am so busy," he laughs. "I've not been this active before, I feel like I have a lot more energy now. I don't know how much time I have left and I want to enjoy every day and live life to the fullest."
