With over two decades of experience in the events and hospitality industry, he brings warmth, professionalism and a deep sense of care to his role at The Baytree by Ardency.
Kaz’s journey in Australia began in 1986 when he and his family arrived from Iran. After completing high school in Sydney, he pursued studies in hospitality and tourism, laying the foundation for a career that would span weddings, café ownership and large-scale event management. "I’ve always loved creating memorable experiences for people. Whether it was running my own café or managing a wedding, it was about making someone’s day a little brighter," he says.
However, like many small business owners, Kaz faced the difficult decision to close his café during the COVID-19 pandemic. "It was tough but it also opened the door to something new," he reflects. That 'something new' turned out to be a role at The Baytree by Ardency, the luxury independent living resort where Kaz quickly discovered that many of the skills he’d honed over the years transferred seamlessly. "Hospitality is still at the heart of what I do, but here, the environment, the company and the people I work with make all the difference."
He describes the work-life balance as one of the role’s greatest rewards. "I have more time for my family now and that’s invaluable. The work here is also deeply meaningful. You need to have a caring nature because you’re interacting with the same residents every day. Some days are challenging, but overall, it’s incredibly rewarding," he shares.

The Baytree has established itself as a high-end independent living community with a vibrant culture and deeply engaged residents. "The sense of community here is strong. Residents are settled, connected and always keen to participate in events and outings. It’s a pleasure to support and be part of that," says Kaz.
With resort-style amenities including a swimming pool, bowling green, cinema and an onsite restaurant, the village offers a lifestyle that balances luxury with comfort. But what truly sets it apart, Kaz believes, is the personalised service delivered by a passionate and well-trained team.
The sense of community here is strong. Residents are settled, connected and always keen to participate in events and outings. It’s a pleasure to support and be part of that.
"Our concierge is available 24/7, we have a maintenance manager for daily needs, gardeners to maintain the grounds and the fish pond and a wellbeing officer who organises events and outings. Even our in-house nurse is always there to help when needed. Every touchpoint is designed to support the residents’ lifestyle," he explains.
For Kaz, the real joy of the job comes from building relationships. "Many of our residents have led extraordinary lives - judges, artists, doctors, writers and other distinguished professionals. They’re full of stories and wisdom." One moment he recalls fondly involves a long-time resident with a passion for art. “She would sit in the restaurant after hours, painting cards and drawing. I encouraged her to enter our photography and arts competition. She took a beautiful photo of our fish pond and garden. I helped her tweak and upload it and she ended up in the top three. She was over the moon and we were all so proud. It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to her,” remembers Kaz.
Helping new residents settle in is one of Kaz’s key responsibilities. "After a resident moves in, we do a full meet-and-greet with the team and the resort manager. I provide them with a personalised compendium so they know how everything works, from restaurant menus to maintenance contacts and security. It’s all about making them feel at home from the very beginning." He says the most appreciated amenities is "Definitely the restaurant, the menu changes weekly and our chef always has new specials. The cinema is also a favourite, with movies playing three times a week and the pool is popular too." Roger, resident of The Baytree emphasises, "I love the setting of the café and restaurant which is surrounded by the beautifully maintained gardens. I especially love the dramatic wall of glass at the restaurant offering an uninterrupted view of treetops and sky. Such a view is a rarity in Sydney.”
What’s the one little thing that makes a big difference? For Kaz, it’s attention to detail and communication. "When a resident asks for help, it’s the follow-through that builds trust. Listening, responding and making sure they feel heard. It’s those small acts that add up." Kaz finds daily motivation in his team and the appreciation he receives from residents. "It’s the little thank-yous, the smiles, the knowledge that you made someone’s day better, that’s what keeps me going," he says.
